Natural Rough Cut Cedar Characteristics
Atlantic Outdoors uses premium rough cut western red cedar in the construction of our pergolas. Because cedar is a natural material, variations in color, grain patterns, knots, texture, and saw marks should be expected. These natural characteristics are normal and contribute to the unique rustic appearance of each structure.
Cedar naturally resists insects, decay, and moisture, making it an excellent material for outdoor applications. Over time, rough cut cedar may weather to a soft gray patina if left untreated, or it can be stained or sealed to maintain its original appearance.
Minor checking, cracking, and movement may occur as the wood acclimates to its environment. These natural changes do not affect the structural integrity of the pergola.
