CEDAR GAZEBO WITH 4-TRACK WINDOWS
Designed to offer more protection from the elements than a traditional open gazebo, this custom 10′ Cedar Octagon Gazebo Kit was delivered to Flushing, Michigan, in 2026. Its standout feature is an upgraded 4-track window system, which transforms the classic cedar gazebo into a more enclosed outdoor retreat while retaining the charm of an eight-sided wood structure.
The 10-foot octagonal footprint creates a comfortable space for a small dining table, conversation furniture, or lounge seating. While the structure maintains the recognizable shape and proportions of a traditional gazebo, the window system gives the interior a noticeably different feel from an open-sided model.
The gazebo was handcrafted from #1 Appearance Grade Cedar, allowing natural wood to remain an important part of both the exterior and interior appearance. Eight 4×4 cedar posts establish the corners and provide the primary support for the roof.
Rather than traditional open sections between every post, this project incorporates a 4-track window system. The adjustable panels provide greater control over the amount of airflow entering the gazebo, allowing sections to be opened during pleasant weather or closed when additional protection from wind and rain is desired.
This flexibility is particularly useful in Michigan, where outdoor conditions can change considerably throughout the season. The window system allows the gazebo to function more like a protected outdoor room while still providing the ventilation and connection to the surrounding landscape expected from a gazebo.
Decorative woodwork adds traditional character beneath the windows and roofline. Deluxe railings with turned spindles provide a more detailed appearance than standard straight rails, while half-moon braces and top railsintroduce additional curves throughout the octagonal structure.
The lower railings stand approximately 32 inches high, giving the gazebo a defined perimeter beneath the window system. Together, the turned spindles, cedar framing, and adjustable windows create a more finished enclosure than a conventional open-railing design.
A standard cupola crowns the roof, preserving one of the signature architectural features of Atlantic Outdoors’ octagon gazebos. Galvanized fasteners and hardware were supplied throughout the structure for durable exterior connections.
Unlike many of the cedar gazebo kits in the project gallery, this structure was specifically ordered without an entire floor system. There are no floor joists or cedar floorboards included, allowing the gazebo to sit directly over the customer’s existing concrete pad.
L-brackets were included to mount the eight cedar posts directly to the concrete, creating a permanent connection without introducing a raised wood floor. This allows the existing hardscape to continue beneath the gazebo and avoids unnecessary changes in floor elevation.
Prepared as a prefabricated cedar gazebo kit, the custom components and window system were delivered to Flushing for final assembly on the customer’s prepared concrete foundation.
With its 4-track windows, turned-spindle railings, natural cedar construction, floorless configuration, and traditional cupola, this project offers a different approach to the classic octagon gazebo. The result is a more sheltered outdoor space designed to extend the comfort and usability of the gazebo through a greater portion of Michigan’s changing seasons.
