TWO-TONE CEDAR A-FRAME GREENHOUSE
Rich Walnut-stained cedar and contrasting Cinder trim give this custom 10′ x 14′ A-Frame Cedar Greenhouse a distinctive two-tone appearance. Delivered to Woodbine, New Jersey, in 2026, the structure combines a bright polycarbonate growing area with an integrated storage section, built-in shelving, powered ventilation, and electrical features designed to make everyday gardening more convenient.
The greenhouse is constructed from Western Red Cedar, allowing the natural grain and texture of the wood to remain an important part of the finished design. Rather than applying one stain color throughout, the main cedar surfaces received a Walnut stain, while Cinder-stained trim highlights the doors, windows, roofline, and other architectural details. The darker combination gives this greenhouse a more dramatic appearance than a traditional natural cedar finish.
Across the growing portion, twin-wall polycarbonate panels cover both the roof and sides. The translucent material allows generous natural light into the greenhouse while creating an enclosed environment where plants can be protected from changing outdoor conditions.
Inside, two built-in shelves provide dedicated growing and organization space along the greenhouse wall. Seed trays, smaller pots, herbs, flowers, and young plants can be kept elevated on the shelving while the central portion remains available for larger containers and comfortable movement through the structure.
Managing temperature is particularly important inside a greenhouse, so this project includes a 12-inch exhaust fan installed in the greenhouse gable wall. The powered fan helps move accumulated warm air out of the structure and encourages better air circulation during hotter weather.
An accompanying electrical package with one switch and one outlet provides convenient power within the greenhouse. The switch allows straightforward operation of the ventilation system, while the receptacle provides flexibility for other gardening equipment or electrical accessories.
The attached shed section provides a dedicated area for storing gardening tools, soil, pots, watering equipment, and other supplies. A black metal roof covers this portion of the structure, creating a bold contrast against the stained cedar while visually separating the solid-roof storage area from the translucent greenhouse.
Unlike some combination greenhouse-and-shed projects, neither portion of this structure includes a floor. Both the greenhouse and storage areas were designed to sit directly over the customer’s properly prepared surface, allowing the owner to choose the final base treatment best suited to the site.
Access is provided through three man doors, while two 24″ x 36″ shed windows positioned along the sidesintroduce additional natural light and give the enclosed section a more finished architectural appearance.
The combination of materials gives this project much of its personality: translucent greenhouse panels create a bright growing environment, Walnut-stained Western Red Cedar provides natural warmth, Cinder trim adds definition, and the black metal shed roof introduces a strong finishing contrast.
