WHITE VINYL PAVILION REPLACEMENT
This 10′ x 18′ White Vinyl Gable Pavilion was part of a complete outdoor living upgrade in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 2026. Before the new structure could be installed, Atlantic Outdoors demolished and disposed of the property’s existing 10′ x 20′ pergola, prepared the site for the replacement, and professionally installed the new vinyl pavilion over the existing outdoor area.
Moving from an open-roof pergola to a solid-roof pavilion significantly changes how the space can be used. While the previous pergola primarily provided architectural definition and partial shade, the new pavilion creates a fully covered 180-square-foot outdoor area with greater protection from direct sun and rain.
The structure is built around a traditional wood frame that is wrapped in white vinyl, providing the strength of wood construction with a clean, low-maintenance exterior. Four support posts keep the perimeter open, allowing the pavilion to cover the patio without introducing unnecessary obstructions around the seating and entertaining area.
For this project, the posts were upgraded to 6×6×10′ structural members with matching 6×6 vinyl sleeves. Decorative 16-inch post bases add additional detail at ground level and create a more substantial transition between the posts and the patio below.
The pavilion’s 6/12 gable roof provides generous height through the center of the structure while maintaining classic residential proportions. Its straightforward roofline allows the pavilion to coordinate naturally with the surrounding home and landscape rather than overwhelming the existing outdoor space.
Underneath the roof, 2× rafters and 1×6 tongue-and-groove roof decking remain visible as part of the finished interior. A semi-transparent stain was applied to the roof interior, bringing natural wood tones into the otherwise bright white structure. This contrast gives the covered area a warmer, more finished appearance when viewed from beneath the pavilion.
On the exterior, Rustic Black asphalt shingles create a strong contrast against the white vinyl framework. The dark roofing gives the structure a classic black-and-white palette while providing dependable protection over the newly covered patio.
Installation required more than simply anchoring the pavilion to the existing concrete. One additional footer was installed beyond the side of the concrete pad to properly support the new structure. Post anchor brackets and the required fasteners were incorporated into the installation, while galvanized hardware was used throughout the pavilion.
Once the old pergola was removed and the necessary foundation work completed, Atlantic Outdoors delivered and professionally installed the new 10′ x 18′ pavilion at the Harrisburg property. Handling demolition, disposal, footer preparation, delivery, and installation as part of the project allowed the outdoor area to transition directly from its previous pergola to a permanent covered structure.
The finished project demonstrates how replacing an aging or less-functional pergola with a solid-roof vinyl pavilioncan completely change an existing patio. With its stained tongue-and-groove ceiling, Rustic Black roof, taller posts, and clean white exterior, the new pavilion creates a more versatile outdoor room designed for both everyday relaxation and entertaining.
