HEXAGON PAVILION WITH COPPER CUPOLA
Architectural detailing takes center stage on this custom 14′ x 14′ Vinyl Hexagon Pavilion, professionally installed in West Windsor, New Jersey, in 2026. Rather than following the familiar square or rectangular pavilion layout, this structure uses a six-sided design accented by Atlantic Blue shingles, decorative dentil molding, a windowed cupola with a copper roof, and a finished vinyl ceiling.
The hexagonal footprint gives the pavilion a distinctive presence within the landscape. Its six-sided configuration creates interesting sightlines from every direction and makes the structure particularly well suited as a centerpiece for a patio, garden, pool area, or larger landscaped setting.
The pavilion’s structural framework is finished in vinyl, creating a clean exterior while protecting the underlying wood components. Standard 6-inch posts support the roof, with additional posts incorporated into this project to accommodate the customized design and structural layout.
Overhead, substantial double 2×10 header beams wrapped in vinyl connect the posts and establish the perimeter of the six-sided roof. The heavier headers provide the structural support needed for the pavilion while maintaining a consistent finished appearance with the vinyl columns below.
One of the most eye-catching details is the roof itself. Atlantic Blue asphalt shingles introduce a distinctive color rarely seen among the more neutral roofing selections used on outdoor structures. Against the light vinyl framework, the blue roof becomes an important part of the pavilion’s overall personality.
At the peak sits an upgraded cupola with windows and a copper roof. The windows add another layer of architectural detail, while the copper creates a warm metallic accent against the Atlantic Blue shingles. As the copper naturally ages, its appearance can continue to evolve and add character to the pavilion.
Decorative dentil molding provides additional detail beneath the roofline. The repeating trim pattern gives the pavilion a more formal, traditional appearance and helps emphasize the geometry of the six-sided structure without relying on oversized ornamental features.
The interior was finished with a vinyl ceiling, creating a bright and polished surface overhead. The finished ceiling coordinates with the surrounding posts and headers and gives the underside of the pavilion a clean appearance from virtually every viewing angle.
An integrated electrical package adds practical functionality to the structure and provides preparation for powered features such as lighting, a ceiling fan, or other outdoor electrical conveniences once final connections are completed.
This pavilion was intentionally designed without a structural floor, allowing it to be installed directly over the customer’s prepared surface. Anchor brackets and the necessary hardware were included to properly secure the structure at its permanent location.
